You have completed training and received your results. What’s the next step? This blog post will give you a step-by-step guide to applying for your SIA licence post training.
Gather Necessary Documents
- Check your name on your certificate to ensure that it has been spelt correctly.
- Ensure that you have all the correct documents prepared and ready to provide as evidence before you begin your application.
- You must have an identification document such as:
- A valid passport of any nationality
- Biometric Resident Permit
- UK Driving Licence
Without one of these documents, you will not be able to apply for an SIA Licence Card.
- You must also have 2 documents that show your proof of residence in the UK, such as:
- Bank Statement
- Government Letter
- NHS Letter
- Utility Bill or similar from the last 3 months only.
For a full list of documents please check out this blog post.
You must also have your NI number at hand as it will be required during the application process.
Previous Addresses of Residence
- Ensure that you have a list of your previous addresses of residence from the last five years. There cannot be any gaps between homes you have lived at. These can be UK addresses and addresses you have lived abroad.
- If you have lived abroad in the last five years, you will need to provide a Criminal Record Certificate for that country to the SIA.
Completing your Application on the SIA Website
- Select ‘Register a personal account’ and fill in your personal details. Please ensure you do not make any mistakes when typing your name, date of birth or other information here as this may cause delays in submitting your application. Ensure that your name has been typed into the correct fields.
- Provide a valid email address and telephone number. The email address is essential in receiving information about your application.
- Make a note of your answers for the security questions, as well as your username and password for login.
- You will receive an email to activate your account once you’ve registered your details. Check for the email and click the link to activate. Once this is done, go back to the login page and log in using your username and password.
- Follow the steps and complete the application.
- Once the application has been completed you will be able to submit it. Once you have submitted the application, you will receive information with your Reference Number, and about which documents to take to the Post Office for processing.
- Once you have been to the Post Office, your application will be processed. You will receive your SIA Licence within 6 weeks.
If you have any difficulty in applying for the SIA Licence and would like us to help you complete your application, we provide a SIA License Application Service for a fee of £50.
