Award in Education & Training (AET) with Physical Intervention & Conflict Management
Our Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET), combined with Physical Intervention and Conflict Management trainer qualifications, is the essential pathway to becoming an approved SIA trainer in the UK.
This qualification is designed for security professionals, assessors, and new trainers who want to deliver SIA licence-linked training and develop the skills needed to teach confidently, create inclusive learning environments, and manage a safe and professional classroom. Supported by the Education and Training Foundation, it provides a recognised pathway into SIA training and progression to higher-level teaching qualifications.
Entry Requirements
To enrol on this qualification, learners must:
Be 19 years of age or older
Have an initial assessment in English, maths, and ICT
Be willing to complete a development plan if any skills gaps are identified
There are no other formal entry requirements.
Documents Required for Registration
You will need to provide the following documents to enrol in our SIA-approved course.
1x Proof of ID: e.g. Passport, Driving Licence, UK Birth Certificate
2x Proof of Address (issued within the last 3 months): e.g. Bank Statements, Utility Bills, Official Letters, Mortgage Statements, P60/P45, Council Tax Statements, etc.
2x Passport-sized Photos in Colour

It is mandatory for all applicants applying for a security licence to have a valid Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent. The qualification must be valid for at least one year.

Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Covers the teaching/training role, professional responsibilities, legislation, equality & diversity, and working with others in education and training.
Learners usually choose at least one from this group to make up required credits (often the inclusive teaching approaches unit is chosen):
Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
Focuses on planning, delivering, and evaluating inclusive sessions, engaging and motivating learners, and adapting teaching approaches.
Facilitate learning and development for individuals
A Learning & Development unit about supporting individual learner progress.
Facilitate learning and development in groups
A Learning & Development unit covering group learning facilitation techniques.
Usually, one unit from this group is chosen to complete the qualification requirements:
Understanding assessment in education and training
Introduces assessment principles, types and methods, and how to involve learners in assessment.
Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
A Learning & Development unit that looks more deeply at assessment theory and practice.
To achieve the Level 3 Award in Education and Training, learners must accumulate 12 credits from the above units with the following rules of combination:
3 credits from Group A (mandatory)
6 credits minimum from Group B (optional)
3 credits minimum from Group C (optional)
Learners must complete a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio demonstrates that you understand teaching principles and can plan and deliver a training session. The portfolio is internally assessed and quality assured by the awarding body (e.g. Highfield).
