SIA Services
An SIA Licence is a legal requirement for anyone working within the UK’s private security industry. Holding a valid licence not only ensures you are operating within the law but also helps build public trust, as clients and members of the public are reassured that you are qualified and authorised to perform security duties.
Working without a valid licence is a criminal offence. If caught, you could face a fine of up to £5,000 and/or a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment upon conviction. This is why timely renewal is essential to protecting your career.
When your current licence is approaching expiry, you must apply for a renewal if you wish to continue working. You cannot renew an SIA licence unless your current licence is still valid — if it has already expired, you will need to apply for a new one.
To avoid disruption, you can apply to renew your licence up to four months before it expires. Any remaining time on your current licence will be carried over to your new one, ensuring you do not lose valuable time. Renewing early guarantees peace of mind, continued employment, and uninterrupted compliance.
